Small Print Series

Posted in Uncategorized on November 23, 2010 by Wayzata Camerone

In 1994, Wayzata exhibited a series of small B&W prints at the Granados 2 gallery in Los Angeles.  This was one of only 3 times Wayzata’s nudes have been shown.  Introductions were made by Richard Meade, Wayzata’s long-time cohort who curated the “Erotic Mail-Art Show” at Zero Zero in 1980.

Wayzata printed this series purposefully small & cropped them abstractly.  We have endeavored to reproduce the 4 prints here (scores of these small prints reside in the WC archives) as close to “actual size” as possible; they are approximately 20% smaller here.

In comparing these images to the “Glendale Series”, we have safely determined the identity of two of the models as Lulu & “The Russian.” The other 2 models – an Asian or Latina in striped pantyhose & an African or Latina with marked ankle – are unidentified with any notations on either negative sleeves or accompanying envelopes.

Glendale Series, Part 2

Posted in Uncategorized on August 6, 2010 by Wayzata Camerone

Two scans of original B&W prints from the Glendale cottage series; model is probably Lulu, although her face is obscured.  [Many of Wayzata’s models were photographed this way, either for anonymity or more likely to achieve the noir flavor that Wayzata wanted.]

Note that these scans were cropped to show Wayzata’s original print format, hence the “white edging” around the image; Wayzata usually printed his 2 1/4 negs full-frame so we are maintaining that authenticity.

More Archives Unearthed!

We can postpone no longer; the executors here at “Wayzata Camerone” finally tackled that ominous 4-drawer treasure trove of Wayzata’s memorabilia, press clippings and negatives…LOTS of negatives.  With great delight we herewith preview a few images from an undated shoot featuring 2 young women.  Obviously attracted to one another, Wayzata’s negatives reveal the shoot began simply enough, with lingerie shots in single poses, then advanced to the girls French-kissing & topless.

Speculation as to when & where this session was held is hotly debated here, with most of us allowing these negatives were probably made between ’93 and ’94 at Wayzata’s cottage-studio in Glendale, or at a West LA apartment he rented from ’94 to ’95.  We had 8 of the “best” negatives (which were impeccably filed in sleeves) re-printed anew, and these were the choicest.

Expect new selections from Wayzata’s “Glendale Series” and a hitherto unknown group of shoots from another LA studio Wayzata rented in the near future.

Killer With My Name

In 1995, Wayzata and his brother Scott released the sole Johnny’s Machine Gun Jones CD.  Bruce Kalberg (recently arrested in LA on suspicion of homicide) did additional graphics and shot this rear cover photo.  Track 8 has now taken an oddly prophetic tone:

Henry kills in his head so that you may live longer/stupid lies he has lead/make him much stronger/no one spoke of his rage or his delicate ego/he’s become something worse: a blood-spatter hero/even if he did kill those bastards, baby/they don’t give a damn!

Lulu & the Russian: Wayzata later learned that the two friends “experimented” further after this shoot.

Lulu (on the right) and her Russian girlfriend were regular visitors to the Glendale studio and became two of Wayzata’s favorite models. Here they share a black leather jacket and anonymity.

Glendale Series

The Glendale Series contains many different models and some of the strongest imagery. Working with a Yashica 2 ¼ format camera, Wayzata shot these photos in 1990-1993 and printed them in the darkroom he built in his Glendale cottage.
